New design...the site is undergoing a radical redesign with a wider format (making the most of newer, bigger screens), graphics and some tools inlcuding a major change to the messaging system bringing in a facebook style solution allowing simplier review of message history. All this will make the site faster, smoother, simpler and overall...cooler.

Picture file size
I have just increased the picture file size limit by 5 times per picture from 200kb to 1mb.

Upgrade
The site is moving about 3 times faster after a move to a new hardware.

I have just added an option to the Search page to search for members by their username...this will help with find members who you see in our "New Member Emails".

Video added to Profile
I have just added an option to add a introductory video members profiles. All members can add one but viewers will need ot be paid members.
Adding a photo to profiles increase message responce rates by 4.18 times (on average). Its going to be very interesting to see how a video profile increase any member's partnering rate!

The competition winners have been decided. Some entries won due to their convincing arguments for their individual ideas. Other entries won for shear volume of ideas. In some cases several members suggested the same idea. I this case the member who proposed the idea with the most convincing argument was selected as the winner.

Freerub.com's technology cost $1000's to develop. It has been worth it as the site has been a great success. However, it does seem a little redundant to use it for just one type of partnering site. There are 100's of different types of dating sites out there, why not 100's of partnering sites?!

Server Move
Due to a growing membership base and increased site activity the site began to slow a little in recent months with the occasional crash for a few minutes.
We have now moved to a faster more reliable server and expect to provide a greater standard of services as a result.

New Massage Articles section launched
Today a new section has been added to freerub.com. As you will see there is a new button at the bottom of the list linking to "Articles". Here you can find articles about massage from all respects. We have launched with a series of articles from members who are mostly qualified Massage Therapists and who have detailed their massage education/school experiences.
We will add more and more articles with a wide variety of topics in the coming weeks and months.

Message Status
To make life easier and help memebrs review the progress/success of the messages you send (full account needed) I have added a field in the "Sent" messages folder to show the date that the message was read.
This field was added a few days ago and took the place of the field showing the date you sent the message.
Messages sent before this upgrade still show the "sent" date but messages sent since will show either "not read" or the date it was read.
The site sends automatic email notifications showing your username to all members when you send a message. Some may choose not to upgrade their account in order to read and respond to the message although very often this does prompt the recipient to upgrade their account in order to read your message. Many members hold off with upgrading their account until they are sent a message.
Having at least 1 photo in your profile will encourage this as free account holders can view them before upgrading their account to respond. If you are female you are 3 times more likely to get a message if you have a photo in your profile and 5 times more likely if you are male...strange I know, but those are the stats!

New Search
What used to be the preferences page has now been merged with the “Advanced Search”.
These means that you can set your search preferences on the advanced search page and these settings will be retained. However, now when searching using the “Basic Search” your preferences will not be taken into consideration. This is to make the site easier for new internet users to use and provide the most possible search results.

www.FindAMassagePartner.com is launched.
FreeRub's sister site has just been launched. This new site works with the same database of members as freerub. Being a member of one site means you are a member of the other one also. Your member status is the same on both; the functions are the same for both sites. In fact, everything apart from the name is the same - except the payment method.
I have been advise by many members that they would prefer to pay by card via some other payment gateway than paypal. To this end, www.findamassagepartner.com uses 2Checkout to process payments. If you don’t already have a paypal account you may well find this option a simpler solution. As such you can upgrade an account that you originally registered via Freerub using 2Checkout via FindAMassagePartner.com and visa versa.
The idea for the new site came as a result of a survey of female freerub members. Their opinion was unanimous that the domain name could be construed as having sexual connotations; this is something I had considered for some time.
The new domain name and a change in some site graphics a couple of months ago are to try and reduce the possibility that visitors my consider the site as some sort of dating site of pick up place.

Membership milestone
We have just hit 30,000 members. It took 15 months to hit our last milestone of 20,000 and now only 4 months later we hit the next one. Membership is growing at a rate that allows me to project a membership of 50,000 by the end of the year.

AffectionateFriends.com launch.
In October last year, after having several thoughts about a new website I surveyed a large group of FreeRub's membership so see what they thought of the new idea!
The response was massive and 99% positive. It seemed that I had found another valid niche.
The purpose of the site in question was to act as a dating site but for dating within specific pre-defined boundaries.
Many people don't want to a date in the traditional sense, (i.e. in the hope of finding a long term partner) but would prefer something simpler whilst wanting something more than just a straightforward “friends” relationship.
Hence the birth of www.AffectionateFriends.com to fill this gap in the online dating phenomenon. I'll let the site's home page do the rest of the talking to explain what it is all about, but based on feedback from the Freerub members I survey back in Oct, this new site will be of great interest to the average freerub member.
The site works just like Freerub, you can register for free and upgrade as and when you like. However if decide its time to upgrade your freerub account to 6 months membership or more you will be given 6 months full membership on affectionatefriends.com for free.
To claim this free membership just upgrade your freerub account and send me an email with a note of your affectionatefriends.com and freerub.com username.

Is it worth posting a picture?
Well I have always maintained that posting a picture in your profile will help with the number of messages that you receive both from new contacts and as responses to your own messages. Now I have run the numbers for all members that have been registered on the site (free and paid) for at least 1 month and not only do they back up my theory but they also go beyond my expectations.
If you are a female member you will receive (on average) 3.075 times the number of messages with a picture than without one.
If you are a male member it's even more important as you will receive 5.612 times more messages with a picture in your profile.
Need I say more! Want an easier time finding a massage partner...post a pic!

Gold Membership
Currently both members of the site have to have an upgraded (paid) account to send and access received messages. I am considering adding a Gold membership to the site which will allow you to send messages to free members that they can access. They can then reply directly via whatever means of communication your provide to them, phone, email etc. I would love to hear your views on this possible upgrade!

The site has "Report Abuse" links around it so that you can let me know about inappropriate messages, profile content and photos.
